Position Description
JOB TITLE: Specialty Vehicle Technician
DEPARTMENT: Materials and Logistics
REPORTS TO: Director of Materials and Logistics
SPECIALTY VEHICLE TECHNICIAN SUMMARY: Join our dedicated team as a Specialty Vehicle Technician, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our specialty vehicle equipment. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing, contributing to the readiness and effectiveness of our emergency response capabilities. SPECIALTY VEHICLE TECHNICIAN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- O versee daily operations of the building maintenance department and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on related equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in vehicles.
- Repair and replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, pumps, and electrical systems.
- Conduct performance tests to ensure apparatus meets operational standards.
- Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with fire department personnel to schedule maintenance and address operational concerns.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment and modifications to existing apparatus.
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools and spare parts.
- Train and guide junior technicians in repair and maintenance tasks.
- Clocks in and out for activities throughout the day in Pierson Wireless' project management cloud solution.
- Provides support to other team members and staff as needed.
- Submits receipts and expense records.

SPECIALTY VEHICLE TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification from a recognized vocational or technical program in diesel technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance and repair of fire apparatus or heavy-duty vehicles.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics.
- Experience using diagnostic tools and software.
- Strong understanding of NFPA standards and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills for reporting and documentation.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various conditions.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
