Duties

Help

  • Plans, organizes, and manages the activities of the 57th Operations Group and provides legal and regulatory requirements to meet customers needs.
  • Represents the 57th Operations Group with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
  • Provides management and leadership in development of 57th Operations Group.
  • Serves as the group focal point for joint operational integration.

  • This is a Centrally Managed Position. PCS will be paid in accordance with JTR Vol. 2 and applicable Air Force Regulations.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Rated Senior Officer, active duty with Command. Air Liaison Officer, Joint Terminal Attack Control, Forward Air Controller Airborne or Call for Fire certification strongly desired.
  • The employee is required to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.

  • Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include: Expert knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of critical command plans and programs for participating in or conducting major operations such as mission and flight operations, tactical airlift, tactical training, rescue, deployment, mobilization, PPBS, acquisition, special operations, exercise, flying training systems both manned and unmanned, rescue, foreign military sales, contingency, or similar operations. Comprehensive knowledge of the range of administrative laws, policies, regulations, and precedents applicable to the administration of one or more programs. Knowledge of military command structure, missions, programs, organizational relationships and program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones, and methods of evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions as related to actual events. Knowledge of the various command entities involved in overall planning and execution of operations and evaluations.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Expert knowledge of management methods, practices, procedures, regulations, policies, and processes.
  2. Detailed knowledge of Air Force missions, functions, goals, objectives, work processes, and sources of resources pertinent to programs/organizations. Military aviation background is highly desirable.
  3. Knowledge of automated data processing concepts and systems capabilities to accomplish planning and programming tasks.
  4. Knowledge of and ability to apply safety, security, and personnel regulations, practices and procedures.
  5. Expert skill in formulating, justifying, and/or analyzing requirements for programs and resources. A master's degree in business administration is desirable.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to justify, defend, present, advocate, and/or advise on processes, actions, and decisions impacting the Wing mission.


PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
