Schedule: Sunday - Thursday / 9:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Key Responsibilities:

As a vital member of the US FOODS® team, our Mechanics play an essential role in maintaining the reliability of our operations.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, and complete necessary repairs on diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, and lift gates.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance following company standards.

  • Document all repair orders, PM schedules, and parts usage accurately.

  • Track assigned repairs using the Shop Fax system.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment according to safety rules and regulations.

  • Oversee inventory and keep accurate records.

  • Serve as backup for other maintenance shop personnel as needed.

  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and certifications.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer technician, or certification in diesel mechanics or TK/Carrier refrigeration.

  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for equipment repairs.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience implementing preventative maintenance programs.

  • Must provide your own hand tools.

  • CDL A and DOT certification is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations related to the shop and fleet.

  • Ability to read and comprehend technical and service manuals.

  • Strong communication skills with a collaborative mindset.

  • Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to adapt to changing operational needs.

  • Experience with computers and software applications.

  • Flexible availability for nights and weekends.

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.

The expected pay range for this role is $30 - $35 per hour, depending on relevant experience and skills.

Additionally, overtime compensation, incentive compensation based on performance, and other benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and life insurance are included.
