Accounting Manager

Position Summary
The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the accounting department to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial processes. This role is responsible for managing accounting staff, maintaining internal controls, preparing financial statements, and supporting leadership with financial analysis and reporting to guide business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Review and analyze general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and proper coding.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for leadership.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies.
- Supervise daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments.
- Manage fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules.
- Oversee cash flow monitoring and banking activities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff; provide training and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with department managers to support budgeting and financial planning.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers, and financial institutions.
- Support cross-functional initiatives and provide financial insights to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and support audit activities.
- Monitor and update accounting policies and procedures as needed.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
