Lead Transmission Line Design Engineer

Leidos is looking for a skilled Lead Transmission Line Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in tackling complex challenges in electric transmission, ensuring high-quality design for transmission line projects.

The ideal candidate will contribute significantly to high-voltage overhead and underground system design projects for major utility companies. You will leverage your knowledge of NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other relevant standards for engineering and implementing infrastructure improvements.

As part of your responsibilities, you will perform engineering analyses, draft plans and specifications, and develop bidding documents. Utilizing tools like PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE, you will execute technical tasks independently while also participating in quality control processes. Collaboration with a talented team at Leidos and support for clients throughout project planning, environmental assessments, permitting, and construction management will be essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute technical design and engineering tasks for high-voltage transmission lines, ensuring adherence to applicable codes and standards.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and calculations with guidance from Lead Engineers or Project Managers.
• Conduct engineering analyses using PLS-CADD modeling and structure loading calculations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by adopting new technical tools and platforms.
• Communicate effectively with the Project Manager to track project progress and ensure compliance with schedules and budgets.
• Maintain strong technical proficiency in industry-standard software and Leidos design processes.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of four years of relevant experience in electric utility transmission system design.
• Proficient in using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• A proven team player who can also work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, facilitating effective collaboration across teams.
• The potential for office work at client sites and some travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with TOWER software is advantageous.
• Possessing EIT or PE certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with additional software like LPILE, FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS tools is desirable.

Work locations for this position include Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, offering hybrid scheduling options. Fully remote positions are also available for qualified candidates. Relocation assistance is provided for candidates relocating to Walled Lake, MI, or Cranberry Township, PA.

Compensation for this role ranges from $72,150.00 to $130,425.00, influenced by factors such as responsibilities, experience, and internal equity.
