General Description
The Clerk's Office is looking to hire individuals to administer absentee voting at various Madison Public Library locations and other locations citywide such as campus locations (UW, Edgewood, or Madison College), or community centers (Catholic Multicultural Center, Centro Hispano, Lussier Center, Hmong Institute, etc.). This position will be responsible for providing clerical support and public contact work. Specifically, you will provide general information regarding election procedures and the data entry of voter information. This work is performed under the supervision of the City of Madison Deputy Clerk.
Absentee voting duration: February 3 through May 1. Weekday, evening, and weekend shifts are available for 4 to 20 hours per week.

Online training and hands-on training are required in late January and February but can be completed outside of normal business hours.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the public in providing pertinent information regarding elections. Answer basic questions regarding election procedures before Election Day.
  • Enter voter registrations into the computer.
  • Process absentee ballot requests.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
All applicants will be considered for these positions. Depending on the number of applicants, random selection may be used to determine who moves forward in the process.
