Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer will support the US Postal Service in its Delivery Technology Programs group in Merrifield, VA. Work will relate to new systems as well as legacy equipment systems.

Essential Functions:
  • Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications.
  • Familiar with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC); and designs, plans, and coordinates work teams.
  • Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems.
  • Provides technical support to project team members.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected for fast pace R&D environments.
  • Typically reports to the team lead of the development group.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering or in a related area.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft C# programming language with .Net platform.
  • Must be familiar with web application and web services with SML and JSON design.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Visual Studio IDE with source control software TFS (Team Foundation Server).
  • Must be familiar with C#.Net database interface design, and SQL commands.
  • Experience in C# WinForm with Kiosk software design.
  • Experience in web application, and web services (must familiar with XML and JSON) design.
  • Experience in C# multi-threading programming design.
  • Experience in Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) for source control.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Entity Framework is a plus.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Windows system, e.g. Win10, Windows Servers is a plus.
  • Familiar with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) is a plus.
  • Familiar with UI interface design technologies is a plus, e.g. speech recognition or text to speech.
  • Familiar with section 508 compliant UI design is a plus.
  • Knowing of other programming languages is a plus.
  • Had hardware driver development experience is a plus.
  • To be able to demonstrate current work is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & drug test.
