Trade Compliance Manager - Duty Optimization

What You'll Do:

Relate Search has partnered with a global manufacturer to identify a Trade Compliance Manager specializing in duty recovery and cost reduction strategies. This role will oversee the organization's global duty spend and ensure full compliance with customs regulations while supporting broader cost-saving and trade optimization efforts. The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing international trade compliance programs, especially related to duty drawback, tariff engineering, and government recovery programs.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the global import and export profile to identify opportunities for duty recovery and government reimbursement.
• Provide guidance on duty reduction strategies, bonded operations, and regulatory requirements to internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with legal counsel to explore optimization opportunities related to HTS classification, declared value, and country of origin.
• Oversee third-party vendors preparing and submitting duty drawback, post-summary corrections, and protest claims.
• Track and manage claims to ensure timely submission and resolution while maintaining compliance with evolving customs regulations.
• Stay current on global trade recovery programs and implement process improvements for increased duty savings.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in duty drawback or customs compliance roles.
• Active U.S. Customs Broker License required.
• Experience qualifying goods under trade agreements (e.g., USMCA).
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex customs data and regulations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects independently.
