Medical Emergency Response Specialist

About the Position:
In the face of medical emergencies, we require dedicated professionals who can take decisive action. Whether in a clinical environment or on the front lines with military personnel, you will utilize advanced medical skills to save lives. As a critical member of the healthcare team, you will provide the necessary care for the bravest individuals serving our country.
Responsibilities:
- Perform emergency medical treatment for military personnel such as SEALs, Seabees, and Marines.
- Assist with emergency dental care, including constructing dental crowns and operating X-ray equipment.
- Act as an operating room technician for surgeries.
- Administer preventive care and medications, including immunizations and IV fluids.
- Maintain patient records and assist with clinical tests and research.
Advanced Technical Fields:
As a Medical Emergency Response Specialist, you can choose to specialize in one of the following advanced technical areas:
- Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman (SARC): Provide advanced medical support in high-stakes operations.
- Search and Rescue Medical Technician (SMT): Deliver emergency care during rescue operations and casualty evacuations.
- Deep Sea Diving Medical Technician (DMT): Focus on diving medicine and support during underwater operations.
Work Environment:
Your role may take you around the world and involve diverse and challenging environments. You might find yourself on aircraft carriers, submarines, or in field clinics, working alongside various medical professionals to respond to medical needs effectively.
Training and Advancement Opportunities:
Following Boot Camp, you will undergo 14 weeks of training at Fort Sam Houston, TX, where you will learn fundamental patient care principles. As your career progresses, you will develop advanced medical skills in areas such as surgery, physical therapy, and radiology. There are also competitive opportunities for advancement based on specialized training.
Post-Service Opportunities:
Your experience in this role will position you for a successful career in the healthcare sector, providing you with hands-on experience and credentials recognized in the civilian field.
Education Opportunities:
The training you receive may contribute to college credit, and you will have access to further education through various military programs, including the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Qualifications & Requirements:
To qualify, you must be a U.S. citizen with a high school diploma or equivalent, meet health standards, and pass a background check. Additional requirements depend on your chosen advanced technical field. This includes physical fitness standards and a commitment to a 6-year enlistment.
