Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking a Senior Estimator on behalf of our client, a trusted partner for Charlotte's largest owners and contractors, providing comprehensive electrical solutions for commercial and industrial clients from project conception through ongoing maintenance.
The Senior Estimator plays a critical role in the organization's preconstruction efforts, supporting the accuracy, competitiveness, and success of project bids. Reporting to the Preconstruction Manager, this role leads all estimating activities for assigned projects, ensuring precise cost analysis, effective collaboration, and consistent adherence to company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, direct, and control estimating activities performed by company personnel in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Manage all estimating activities for assigned projects, including coordination with engineering teams and consultation on design-related issues.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and review subcontractor proposals; assess vendor quotes for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all estimates are thorough, reflective of actual project costs, and developed using accurate, up-to-date data.
  • Maintain tracking records and verify the accuracy of information within the estimating system.
  • Enforce consistent estimating methods, standards, and procedures across the organization.
  • Attend pre-bid, job planning, and job progress meetings as required.
  • Participate in recruiting and developing high-quality employees to maintain a strong and capable workforce.
  • Support or participate in company marketing initiatives when necessary to enhance business development.
  • Identify needs for additional resources and present supporting documentation to leadership when required.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships across departments to promote a productive work environment.
Requirements Include: Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field, Business Management, or equivalent work experience required.
Experience:
  • Eight (8) years of operational experience as an Electrical Estimator.
  • At least five (5) years performing complete commercial electrical project estimates on projects exceeding $10M.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical estimating.
  • Ability to interpret engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Skilled in evaluating subcontractor proposals and vendor pricing.
  • Proficient in estimating software and relevant construction technologies.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Certifications:
  • None required.
Knowledge:
  • Deep understanding of electrical systems, construction processes, and project costing.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices in electrical estimating.
  • Familiarity with commercial and industrial project structures, scopes, and operational requirements.
