About the Project: Sepal is conducting a groundbreaking research study aimed at understanding work excellence among data scientists to establish professional benchmarks. We are seeking skilled participants to share their professional experiences, design field-specific screening questions, and document significant work projects as case studies.

Sample Job Titles: Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Data Analyst, AI Scientist, Quantitative Analyst.

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of full-time experience as a data scientist
  • Fluency in the English language
  • U.S. residency
  • Access to a laptop or desktop computer with reliable internet
  • Technology proficiency: Comfortable with messaging, video calling, and uploading files
  • Ability to follow detailed written instructions and independently complete online tasks

COMPENSATION AND LOGISTICS:

  • Hourly pay: $38 - $170 per hour, plus task bonuses based on experience and fit
  • Paid bi-weekly based on tracked and approved hours
  • Contract classification as a 1099 independent contractor; engagement is at-will
  • Flexible remote work; complete tasks as per your schedule while meeting deadlines
  • No current employment in the field is required

This short-term project requires approximately 40-100 hours of work total between now and December 29th. The engagement begins with a paid 24-day trial.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Complete a brief questionnaire outlining your analytical background
  • Evaluate AI-generated statistical analyses, predictive models, feature engineering steps, and experimental designs
  • Assist in developing realistic and edge-case scenarios involving model drift, data imbalance, inference errors, and ambiguous findings
  • Provide expert judgment on the quality of analytical work in practice
