Our client, a well-known insurance firm, is looking for a Junior PHP Web Developer to join a growing technology team and help build and maintain high-quality web applications. The ideal candidate is passionate about software development, eager to learn from experienced engineers, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment where clean, maintainable code and continuous improvement are valued.
This is a hybrid position based in Houston.
** Responsibilities:**
- Work closely with developers and stakeholders to meet project objectives and deadlines.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that adheres to established standards.
- Assist in testing, debugging, and maintaining web applications and databases to ensure strong performance and reliability.
- Contribute to documentation for technical processes, system design, and feature implementation.
- Support the development and deployment of new features while participating in the full software development lifecycle.
- Follow Agile methodologies and best practices under the mentorship of senior developers.
** Qualifications:**
- 3+ years of professional PHP development experience.
- Must have modern frameworks such as Symfony or Laravel.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS, Sass, and JavaScript (Stimulus or similar frameworks preferred).
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs and working with microservice-based architectures.
- Working knowledge of SQL databases, ideally MySQL.
- Understanding of modern design patterns, software architecture principles, and web security best practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Interest in ongoing learning and professional growth.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
