About AWS Utility Computing (UC)

AWS Utility Computing (UC) powers our product innovations, helping to differentiate AWS services in the market. In this role, you'll contribute to the development and management of services related to Compute, Database, Storage, Platform, and Productivity Apps within AWS.

About AWS Neuron

AWS Neuron represents the software behind Trainium and Inferentia, our specialized Machine Learning chips. Inferentia offers exceptional ML inference performance at the most cost-effective rate in the cloud, while Trainium is optimized for ML training, thus maximizing efficiency for our customers.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will collaborate with various teams to enhance the adoption of Neuron technology, addressing customer challenges and unlocking opportunities for faster integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Address complex technical challenges that often require innovative solutions across all layers of the software stack.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions that elevate service performance, durability, cost-effectiveness, and security.
  • Create high-quality, highly available, and always-on products.
  • Conduct research to deliver optimal user experiences for our customers.

A Day in the Life

  • Develop impactful solutions for a diverse customer base.
  • Engage in design discussions and code reviews; communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across functions to influence business decisions with your technical expertise, working alongside compiler, hardware, and ML engineers.
  • Thrive in a startup-like environment, focusing on high-priority projects and driving innovation.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
  • 5+ years of experience in programming with at least one programming language.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading design or architecture for systems, including knowledge of design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
  • 5+ years of experience covering the complete software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Proven experience as a mentor or tech lead, leading an engineering team.
  • Hands-on experience in the Generative AI domain.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in machine learning or other computational modeling environments, focusing on building and optimizing models for various hardware platforms.
