AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are experts with deep knowledge in high performance computing, dedicated to addressing complex challenges with innovative cloud solutions. In this role, you will work closely with customers, using your technical expertise to design scalable and resilient architectures that meet their unique needs. You'll guide customers in refactoring applications and creating cloud-based systems. The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is integral to AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services. Our mission is to drive revenue and growth from small to enterprise-level customers, including the public sector. We focus on understanding and addressing our customers' most business-critical problems, helping to turn AWS innovations into large-scale successes. As part of WWSO, you will be involved in various stages of AWS customer initiatives, offering your expertise to accelerate adoption and build mind-share within enterprise customers.

If you have a strong background in cloud computing and a passion for high performance computing (HPC), we want to hear from you The ideal candidate will combine technical acumen with strong interpersonal skills and business insight to tackle large analytical problems at scale. You will engage with clients on HPC domains such as physics-informed machine learning, CAE, weather prediction, and GPU-accelerated computing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design innovative solutions by collaborating with AWS teams to enable customers and partners to successfully architect HPC solutions using AWS Services.
  • Partner with Solution Architects, Account Managers, and Professional Services to strategically engage with AWS operational territories, focusing on key public sector accounts.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, including writing for external publications and internal training modules for AWS staff.
  • Assist in business development efforts, ensuring client success in utilizing AWS for their applications and services.
  • Share best practices and knowledge across the global AWS solutions architect community.
  • Understand and leverage AWS market segments and industry verticals.
  • Utilize internal business support systems effectively.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience developing HPC frameworks in industries such as CAE, weather simulation, oil and gas, automotive/aerospace, financial services, or pharmaceuticals.
  • Ability to map user requirements to effective HPC solutions.
  • Experience architecting HPC platforms with scheduling middleware such as Slurm or Torque.
  • Knowledge of deployment, tuning, and management of HPC technologies in a multi-user environment.
  • Understanding of the infrastructure needed for efficient HPC service delivery.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of engaging technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, CUDA, or Bash.
  • In-depth knowledge of GPUs in HPC and AI/ML frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, physical or life sciences, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with HPC schedulers, distributed systems, and high-throughput computing.
  • Working knowledge of container technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Understanding of cloud computing models related to HPC.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure requirements, including networking and storage optimizations.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles, such as consultancy or solutions architecture.
  • Proven track record with AWS services across diverse business environments.

Our compensation reflects the labor costs across U.S. geographic markets. The annual salary for this position ranges from $138,200 to $239,000, depending on various factors including location and job-related knowledge.
