Overview Collins is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bridge and Transportation Group Manager to play a key role on our team in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The ideal candidate will have experience in bridge inspection, rehabilitation, maintenance, and design, and creative problem-solving skills balanced with a strong background in the field. This position requires the ability to manage projects, liaise with clients and government agencies, primarily NMDOT, and direct teams. The Group Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of an internal team, specializing in bridge inspection, load rating, and design. The Group Manager independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad area of assignments and related fields. Position Description TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Serves as a bridge inspection Team Leader for routine and fracture critical (NSTM) inspections.  Oversees the quality control of inspection report documentation. Provides expertise in complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices. Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications. Oversees the use of computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. Is active in technical societies. Publishes engineering papers and/or articles. Serves as a senior project manager or senior project engineer on complex projects and as a designated client contact. Assists the Regional Manager in Business Development efforts.  Supervises and monitors client relationship strategies. Successfully develops and maintains meaningful relationships with clients. Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours. Supervises select group of employees and support staff. Manages the staff and is responsible for technical training, career development and performance of all assigned staff. Serves as a coach for engineering and technical staff. Responsible for identifying, recruiting and retaining qualified technical personnel. Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work. Follows established communication processes and systems to ensure effective communication with staff, clients and corporate office. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in Civl Engineering from an accredited four-year university. 15 years or more progressive engineering experience, including project management.  Maintains competency in and serves as major resource in field of expertise. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of New Mexico. A valid driver's license.
