Our services include engineering, construction management, consulting, program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, and nuclear operations. We are looking to add a Structural Engineer - Seismic Specialist to our growing engineering team out of our office in Oak Ridge, TN. As a Structural Engineer, you will oversee contractor's daily work activity for concrete, steel, and foundations on site for the Department of Energy project. Additionally, perform structural design calculations and evaluations as needed for the project. This position is client facing with an emphasis on ensuring quality, schedule, and cost. You will participate in planning, field oversight, inspections, scheduling, general design, design change disposition and procurement tasks as assigned. You will be able to focus on tackling the toughest design challenges with a smile as you support the development of life changing infrastructure that improves communities all over the United States. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations, for “remote” positions, salary to be offered is geographic dependent. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.Here's What You'll Need:Qualifications:Sole US citizenship required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)B.S. in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school 15+ years of post-education experienceA PE or SE is required with ability to obtain a new state license as requiredPerform Engineer of Record duties as assignedAbility to perform advanced linear analysis, non-linear structural analysis, soil structure interaction analysis and generate requisite data such as floor response spectra. Provide evidence of performing analysis for at least one projectBe subject matter expert with steel, concrete, and masonry with emphasis on seismic designExperience implementing local and national code such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC N690, ACI 349, ASCE 4, ASCE 43, DOE-STD-1020, NRC, etc.Ability to follow and implement established NQA-1 quality procedures and ensure that all work accomplished is procedurally compliantSubject Matter Expert in use of finite element software such as STAAD.pro, SAP2000, SASSI, or ANSYSBe software owner and perform validation and verification tasks for design softwareCompetence using Microsoft Office softwarePreferred qualifications:Nuclear Code Committee voting member in ASCE 4, ASCE 43, AISC N690, ACI 349 (or equivalent)Competent using Revit, AutoCAD, or MicroStation softwareDOE Q clearanceDOE and NRC experience Reside within a commutable distance from our Oak Ridge, TN officeWork Location:It is preferred this position be worked full-time in Oak Ridge, TN. There is an option for remote/hybrid work. For people within 50 miles of the Oak Ridge, TN office, a hybrid option requiring a person to be in office a minimum of 2 days per week is available. For people outside of 50 miles, a remote option with some travel to the Oak Ridge, TN office is available. For hybrid and remote work, you are required to provide and work in a secured location as approved by the company within the United States due to the projects that you will be participating in. Essential Functions:Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary.
