Assistant Football Coach

Position Summary:The Assistant Football Coach is responsible for supporting all aspects of the Campbell University Football program, including on-field instruction, practice preparation, scouting, game planning, and student-athlete development. The coach manages assigned recruiting territories, evaluates prospective student-athletes, and contributes to the program’s academic, cultural, and competitive success. This is a full-time, 12-month position that requires adherence to all University, CAA, and NCAA rules and expectations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:In SeasonCoach and instruct student-athletes on the field in assigned position group.Lead meetings focused on football instruction, character development, academic accountability, and leadership.Assist the Head Coach with creating scouting reports, film breakdown, and weekly game plans.Participate in in-game adjustments and strategy discussions.Off SeasonContinue to mentor student-athletes and support their academic, personal, and leadership development.Assist with quality control reports, self-scouting, and off-season program development.Recruit prospective student-athletes through evaluation, communication, campus visits, and relationship building in assigned territories.Program-wide ResponsibilitiesAssist the Head Coach with recruiting, administration, film evaluation, and on-field instruction while adhering to all university, CAA, and NCAA regulations.Analyze practice and game video; contribute to the development of training strategies; and teach student-athletes proper techniques and fundamentals.Support academic monitoring and collaborate with campus partners to ensure student-athlete well-being and success.Communicate and at times, work closely with other departments on campus such as academic advising, residence life, admissions, sports information, campus recreation, compliance, athletic training, and strength and conditioning.Uphold professionalism, integrity, and the mission and values of Campbell University in all duties.Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics administration.Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, and Information Security, including, but not limited to FERPA and other state and federal guidelines.Education/Experience:Bachelor’s Degree required, master’s degree desired.At least 2 years of college coaching experience with proven recruiting at the NCAA Division I level desired.Experience competing as an NCAA Division I Football athlete desired.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with student athletes, and others, through both oral and written channels.Strong organizational and administrative skills are required.Ability to teach the game of Football at a high level and within a university setting.Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.Familiarity with Microsoft Applications, standard methods of digital communication, and common social media platformsDemonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with student athletes, parents, administrative staff, opposing coaches and players, game officials, and the public.Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines.Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment.Ability to work regular evening or weekend hours; and travel, including overnight stays.This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.
