Summary Position Summary: As a member of the surgical team, the Specialty Tech provides technical assistance to the surgeon during surgical intervention under the supervision of the nurse. Maintains instruments and equipment in area of specialization. Essential Functions: Technical Assistance Supports OR team in preparation for case start, during surgical intervention procedures, and upon conclusion of OR assisting duties. Tasks: Demonstrates basic knowledge of normal and pathological anatomy and physiology and of surgical equipment; understands and applies sterile technique. Responsible for organizing, care and transfer of sterile supplies to the operative field; assists in creating and maintaining a sterile field and performs accordingly when a break in sterile technique occurs. Assumes the responsibility for the safe handling and operating of mechanical, electrical Educational Requirements: Associate's degree preferred; CNA license; BLS Provider Certification Required
