Learn more at insightsoftware.com.Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Director of Platform Engineering to lead our platform team in transforming how we deliver cloud infrastructure and operations services. This role will be instrumental in building and managing a modern Internal Developer Platform that enables our managed services teams through automation, self-service capabilities, and consultative engineering services.Key ResponsibilitiesPlatform Leadership & StrategyDefine and execute the platform engineering vision and roadmap, treating the platform as an internal productLead the transformation from manual processes to a highly automated, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) driven operating modelEstablish platform product management practices, gathering requirements from development and operations teamsDrive adoption of self-service capabilities targeting a 1:50 platform-to-developer ratioTeam Management & DevelopmentBuild and lead a team of platform engineers, IaC specialists, and automation engineersImplement agile/DevOps methodologies within the platform team using Scrum or Kanban frameworksDevelop comprehensive training and upskilling programs focused on IaC, Kubernetes, and cloud certificationsFoster a culture of automation-first thinking and continuous improvementTechnical DeliveryOversee development of reusable IaC modules and templates (Terraform, Ansible, Packer, etc)Implement golden paths and paved roads for common infrastructure patternsBuild and maintain CI/CD pipeline templates and GitOps workflowsIntegrate platform capabilities with enterprise systems (identity, networking, monitoring, SIEM)Managed Services EnablementPartner with cloud ops managed services teams to eliminate operational toil through automationImplement problem management processesDevelop self-service platform capabilitiesConsulting ServicesEstablish a consulting framework for complex cloud engineering projectsProvide architecture reviews and technical guidance for product teamsSupport cloud migration and modernization initiativesEnable knowledge transfer through documentation, runbooks, and training materialsOperational ExcellenceEstablish and track platform KPIs (deployment frequency, lead time, MTTR, change failure rate)Drive platform adoption metrics targeting >80% self-service deploymentsEnsure 100% IaC coverage for new resources and >90% automation of routine tasksQualificationsTechnical SkillsInfrastructure as Code Expertise: Deep experience with Terraform, CloudFormation/CDK, ARM Templates/BicepCloud Platforms: Expert-level knowledge of AWS and Azure services, multi-cloud architecturesContainer & Orchestration: Kubernetes (EKS, AKS), Docker, HelmCI/CD & GitOps: GitHub Actions, Azure DevOpsProgramming: Python, Bash/PowerShell, YAML/JSONAdditional Informationll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.We are an equal opportunity employer.
