Job DescriptionTimmons Group is seeking an Electrical Senior Engineer - Substation for our Electrical Design Group located in our Charlotte, NC office. The Electrical Senior Engineer - Substation will focus on assembling and reviewing comprehensive engineering design packages for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage systems. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise and leadership to support the design of physical and electrical substation systems.Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:Prioritize engineering tasks and team deliverables to ensure quality, safety and customer satisfaction while adhering to schedule and budgetParticipate in client meetings and job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering dataPerform necessary calculations and review the preliminary design of facilities and equipment for generation collection, substation, and transmission related facilities including physical arrangementsLead, direct and mentor less experienced team membersSupport the development of detailed contracts, manage scopes of work, oversee change orders, and assist with project closeoutsExcellent problem-solving skills with attention to detailCommunicate effectively with clients and internal teamsLeverage existing industry relationships to help grow the firm’s renewable energy client baseSkills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) registration is strongly preferredMinimum of 12 years of experience in distribution, substation, and/or transmission line engineering, with a strong emphasis on substation designPrior consulting experience is preferredProficiency in electrical design and analysis softwareStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAdditional InformationThe requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
