WHO WE AREIntrepid College Prep is a network of free, college preparatory public charter schools located in the Antioch area of Greater Nashville, Tennessee. We educate scholars at two campuses: Opportunity Academy Middle School and Independence Academy High School. Our 5-12 model ensures that scholars have the opportunity to engage in a rigorous, college-preparatory education for eight years prior to their transition to college and the professional opportunities that follow. This role oversees all human capital systems, policies, and practices that support the recruitment, development, engagement, and retention of high-performing staff. As a cross-functional senior leader, the Senior Director ensures that Human Capital work is aligned to organizational goals, drives strategic initiatives, and promotes a cohesive “one school” culture across campuses and teams.This role manages the Human Capital team, partners closely with business unit leaders, and plays a central role in organizational effectiveness, culture, compliance, and succession planning.General Responsibilities: Functional Team Leadership -Lead the vision, strategy, and execution for the Human Capital function, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic priorities.-Manage and develop the Human Capital team (including directors, managers, and other HC staff), fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and service.-Establish ambitious goals for the Human Capital team; monitor progress through systems that promote data-driven decision-making.-Design and implement systems to evaluate team and staff performance, ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and continuous improvement.-Oversee departmental planning, budgeting, workflow design, and operational rhythms.Lateral Leadership -Partner with senior leaders across school-based and network teams to drive cross-functional projects that strengthen operations, culture, compliance, and organizational effectiveness.-Lead large-scale organizational initiatives that intersect multiple business units (, compensation strategy, annual slates & staffing strategy, policy updates, performance management cycles).-Provide strategic coaching and guidance to other senior leaders on people strategy, decision-making, change management, and conflict resolution.-Strengthen internal communication systems across teams, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment on key policies, deadlines, and organizational expectations.Organizational Leadership-Serve as a senior representative of leadership, modeling the organization’s mission, vision, and values.-Lead the development and execution of the organizational people strategy, ensuring that hiring, onboarding, development, performance management, compensation, and culture systems support strategic goals.-Champion a “one school” organizational mindset by aligning HC strategy across campuses, teams, and functional areas.-Utilize HR and organizational data to influence decision-making and monitor progress toward goals.-Influence key stakeholders and drive change management processes to strengthen culture, talent sustainability, compliance, and organizational health.Specific Responsibilities: The Senior Director oversees all Human Capital functional areas, delegating and managing execution through the HC team.Talent Acquisition & Retention-Oversee the full recruitment and selection strategy for all staff, ensuring high-quality processes that attract and retain excellent talent.-Ensure talent pipelines align to school and network staffing needs and long-term succession planning.-Oversee the development and execution of equitable, competency-based selection processes.Performance Management & Leadership Development -Design and oversee the performance evaluation systems for all staff (teachers, leaders, network staff).-Ensure consistent performance review cycles, feedback structures, and development pathways.-Partner with senior leaders to support leadership development, succession planning, and internal pipeline growth.Total Rewards (Compensation + Benefits)-Oversee development of competitive compensation structures and annual compensation audits.-Lead benefits strategy, plan selection, vendor relationships, and annual renewals.-Ensure that compensation and benefits structures are equitable, transparent, and strategically aligned to talent needs.HRIS, Data, & Compliance-Oversee HRIS management, ensuring data accuracy, reporting, and compliance.-Ensure certification compliance for all instructional staff, including systems for monitoring progress, communicating requirements, and reporting to MNPS/TDOE.-Oversee onboarding/offboarding systems, recordkeeping, and employment verification processes.-Ensure full compliance with labor laws, district/state requirements, and organizational policy.-Organizational PolicyLead the creation, revision, implementation, and communication of employment policies.-Ensure policy fidelity across all teams and campuses.-Partner with legal and compliance stakeholders when necessary.Culture, Engagement, & Employee Relations-Foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-aligned work environment.-Implement systems and strategies to support staff belonging, engagement, and organizational culture.-Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and guide leaders in resolving issues equitably and effectively.-Lead or oversee initiatives that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.Commitment to DiversityIntrepid College Prep is an equal opportunity employer. All staff members are equipped with the tools needed to succeed, including a dedicated work space, laptop computer, email, high-speed internet access, and all necessary supplies. Compensation is highly competitive; teachers are eligible to participate in the MNPS Retirement System. Base salaries are determined by the ICP salary scale. Placement on the salary scale is determined by years of relevant, teaching experience. We do not negotiate salaries because of research that demonstrates the resulting impact of inequitable pay, primarily for women and people of color. Placement on the salary scale is solely determined by relevant experience. Starting salary (Year 0) for a teacher with zero years of experience starts at $51,292.
