The Transportation Leader is responsible for all aspects of the trucking operations, drivers and equipment and dispatch to customers. Adherence to applicable provincial and federal regulatory standards is strictly enforced. Actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment. Responsibilities:Manages the day-to-day operations of the department and guide employees through daily priorities Maintains high department standards and ensures superior execution of Company programs and initiatives Providing routing simulation and scenarios for delivery schedule optimization; prepare department schedules, adjusting schedules and support shift replacements to meet peak operational demandsBenchmark distribution centre weekly transportation costs, maximize cube utilization and cases shipped per trailer/truck, analyze and update routing to minimize transportation costsWork with business partners to ensure and identify backhaul opportunities and complianceUpdate records and ensure compliance with government regulations i.e. driver abstracts, vehicle licensing and insuranceResponsible for updating all deliveries in warehouse management systemResponsible for analyzing all transportation rates/contractsResponsible for all issues relating to customer service deliveriesEstablish driver and equipment requirements for all deliveriesPrepare annual operating and capital budgets; verify charges and track and monitor throughout year  Ensure key performance indicators and budgeted costs are metManage Third Party carriers and Owner Operators to ensure company standard requirements and policies are being adhered toCoaches, counsels, and supports team members with respect to performance management and policy & procedure compliance Assist in recruitment including selection, orientation, training and development and performance management  Develop processes, procedures, and controls to provide the best serviceMaintain health and safety and food safety standards as per company requirementsAll other duties assignedWork Environment Office environment in distribution center Physical work including frequent bending, lifting, and reaching Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Possible exposure to various temperatures Alertness to other people and vehiclesQualifications:Post secondary Diploma or Equivalent with holding a valid Class 1 Drivers License being an asset A minimum of five years of experience in TransportationPrevious supervisory or leadership experience particularly in a distribution centre or warehouse environmentEducation in Logistics or Supply Chain ManagementProficient use of Microsoft Office SuiteGood communication skills (both oral and written)Results oriented leader, with solid judgment and decision-making skillsDemonstrated successful ability working with cross-functional teamsFinancial acumenPlanning and organizing skillsStrong leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skillsWorking knowledge of CAMS, JDA, XATA, TMT, TMS, EXE, Samsara  Job ID: 9L889120712If you are interested in this position and meet the qualifications, apply today We thank all applicants; however, only those who are authorized to work in Canada or are selected for an interview will be contacted.David Aplin Group, one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, is an employment agency specializing in finding top talent for exceptional organizations across North America.
