By building exceptional, customer-centric experiences, this team plays a crucial role in making Upstart the premier destination for consumer credit, driving growth and unifying Upstart’s product portfolio into a cohesive, multi-product marketplace.  As Principal Product Manager, Growth Data & Personalization, you will own the strategy and execution of our data platform, recommendation systems, and personalization engines. You’ll ensure that Upstart delivers the right product, offer, and message to the right customer at the right time — across in-product experiences and marketing channels. You’ll collaborate with data science, engineering, marketing, and product teams to transform customer data into differentiated, high-value experiences that improve engagement and growth outcomes.   How you’ll make an impact Lead strategy for our growth data platform, ensuring data pipelines, models, and systems are built to deliver real-time, scalable personalization across channels. Own the roadmap for recommendation and personalization engines, from offer ranking to content targeting, optimizing for both customer value and business growth. Partner with data science to design, test, and operationalize machine learning models that improve acquisition, cross-sell, and retention. Collaborate with marketing, product, and design to activate personalization consistently across customer touchpoints — email, push, landing pages, app, and in-product modules. Define and track success metrics, balancing model performance, experimentation velocity, compliance, and customer trust.   Minimum Qualifications  6+  years of product management experience with customer data platforms, personalization systems, or machine learning-powered products. Strong track record of partnering with engineering and data science teams to build and scale data-driven platforms or recommendation systems. Ability to manage and influence stakeholders across marketing, product, and engineering, balancing technical complexity with business impact.   Preferred Qualifications Experience with real-time personalization, recommendation systems, or marketing automation in a regulated industry. Proven ability to measure and communicate the ROI of personalization and data investments. Strong customer-centric mindset with the ability to translate data and model capabilities into intuitive, valuable customer experiences.   Position location This role is available in the following locations: Remote Travel requirements As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location–with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
