Vice President of Merchandising

The Opportunity The Vice President of Merchandising is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the Merchandising team. You will work with the Design team to build the product assortment for all Ballard Designs product categories. You must develop and implement strategies that are consistent with brand goals while maximizing sales and margin growth. Also, they must guide the trajectory of new products to achieve newness and sales targets. You will work with our internal Sourcing team to ensure that Ballard quality, packaging and pricing standards are maintained, while always exploring new ideas to keep us at the forefront of design and quality. You will build financial plans, partnering with the Planning team to keep newness, sku count, margins, MOQs, turns and inventory levels on target. Incorporate consumer insights as part of business strategy development. Lead merchandising assortment processes to maximize retail, digital & print productivity while ensuring a brand appropriate product offering. Create a culture where others are valued for motivating their teams. Refine departmental processes to more effectively accomplish department goals. Work with the inventory planning organization to maximize inventory productivity while achieving agreed to financial goals and service levels. What You Bring 10+ years buying experience in home industry with success, Design to Consumer experience. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Excellent negotiation skills. Must be available for domestic and international travel. Will work within a very dynamic, fast-paced, high-growth related company. Experience managing deadlines and achieving results. EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Merchandising or related field or Associate's Degree and equivalent experience.
