The position will focus on Forensic investigations, while joining a group of regional, multidiscipline engineers providing a range of professional life safety consulting services.ResponsibilitiesThe primary focus of this position will be to forensically analyze and determine the root cause of plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC component, equipment, and machinery failures; and the evaluation of equipment/system damage due to catastrophic events. Secondary responsibilities may include consulting for commercial, industrial, and high-rise buildings. Responsibilities include field investigations, lab examinations, equipment and component testing, evidence preservation, collaboration, project coordination, preparation of reports and provide expert testimony. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills with experience producing written technical reports pertaining to mechanical failures, fires, and accidents. Past litigation support, expert witness testimony and product safety engineering experience are desirable attributes. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter that can establish and maintain client contacts, maintain industry presence, and build a forensics practice.Requirements and Qualifications:License and Certification Requirements Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering areaCurrent professional (PE) Engineering licenseCertified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) or Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (NAFI-CFEI) are a plus. Work Experience and Additional Requirements 10+ years of practical experience in the mechanical engineering field. Work experience may be substituted with advanced education.Minimum of 2 years of experience in the forensic/failure analysis arenaExperience with mechanical/electrical/plumbing design in residential, commercial and/or industrial settings is a plus.Experience with depositions and testimony a plus.Willing to travel up to 30% (+/-) throughout the United States or Canada, often at a moment’s notice.Ideal candidate possesses experience with the operation of various types of machinery, equipment, and appliances, building mechanical/plumbing/fire protection systems; automobiles and heavy equipment components and operation; as well as a wide array of other engineering experiences (e.g., failure analysis, code familiarity, biomechanics, human factors, accident reconstruction, systems testing).Candidate must be a self-starter with excellent customer service, communication, technical, and project management skills. #LI-KV1#LI-RemotePlease note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting and not a guarantee of compensation.
