The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will be responsible for coordination and assessment of critical care educational development including clinical competency of the nursing staff in the Children's Services areas. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will have oversight of staff development and ensuring the implementation of a coordinated and effective discharge planning program.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will also have responsibility for pediatrics and assist with newborn nursery. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will work in a busy 15 bed NICU with 24 hour in-house board certified neonatology coverage. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will collaborate closely with Nurse Managers, Educators, Staff Members and will report to the Director of Perinatal Services.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will have specialized knowledge and skills that will be used within three major areas of focus: patient direct care, nurses and nursing practice, and the organization and systems. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS and nursing administration will be partners in leading the nursing clinical practice area, specialty or program.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will work in a prestigious Medical Center with all private patient rooms.
