Music Teacher

Candidates for the position must have a demonstrated passion for teaching and a collaborative style to work on a team prepared to meet the individualized needs of each student enrolled in our school. If you have had experience with this type of differentiated instruction, writing IEPs, coaching students, and daily challenges, then you are a candidate for this position. Our school has 60-65 students enrolled and has a strong, established team of leaders, teachers, and Life Coaches who collaborate for the common goal of having each child reach their full personal potential.
The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Music or related field (Master's degree preferred)
-Candidates must hold valid Connecticut state teacher certification in the content area
(Comprehensive, 049-Music)
- 2 years of experience teaching special education student populations preferred
- Familiar with the IEP process and the collection of progress monitoring data
- Create and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that accounts for students'
social, emotional, and executive functioning needs
- Commitment to helping children of all abilities reach their full potential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, enthusiastic style to fit

Work Environment:
• Maintain a safe and motivating school environment
• Assist with Adjusting the physical environment to accommodate changing student needs Professional Growth:
• Provide appropriate in-service training, workshops, and meetings to keep staff informed of current practices and trends in Special Education
• Review current research and literature in Special Education to assist staff in attaining information specific to their specialties
