Senior Youth Minister

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Youth Minister at Kingdom Fellowship A.M.E. Church (KFAME) has a primary role to lead, develop, plan, and direct ministry programming of our Nursery (9 months to Pre-K), Kids (K to 5th grade) and Teens (6th grade to 12thgrade) in line with the strategic vision and mission of KFAME. Their scope and impact should be those who are members or children of members of KFAME as well as youth within the broader community which we are a part of and serve, disciplining them to faith in Jesus Christ.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Spiritual Leadership
Provides guidance and mentorship to youth, educating them on the faith and providing relevant teaching and counseling to grow in their faith of Jesus Christ through Biblical teachings, prayer, and worship.
- Creates and leads worship that encourages and drives spiritual growth and involvement in missions, which includes preaching sermons that are biblically relevant and organizing mission opportunities.
- Provides spiritual covering for youth and their families as they engage and are drawn to ministry, to include prayer, preaching, teaching, and visits (home, school, hospital), etc.
Team Leadership and Development
Works collaboratively with staff and volunteers of the Kingdom Youth Ministry (KYM) on strategic planning and coordination of activities and events that advance goals and objectives which fulfill the KFAME mission.
- Provides coaching to staff and volunteers who support the advancement of KYM objectives.
- Ensures team members have the appropriate resources to contribute to the success of the goals and objectives for which they are accountable.
- Regularly communicates and reinforces the KFAME mission and seek insights on programs and initiatives that can advance the mission.
- Guides the activities associated with training to recruit and mentor young people who volunteer to lead within KYM, as youth leaders and disciples of Jesus Christ.
- Establish measurable annual goals to guide team members in the development and planning of programs, operations, events, and worship.
Program Development and Management
Plans, develops, and implements engaging youth programs and activities that promote Christian values, discipleship, and service to community. This includes but is not limited to, retreats, youth services, mission trips, and conferences.
- Designs and development programs which enhance the spiritual growth of youth such as Sons of Joshua and Daughters of Esther, which are rites of passage programs under KYM.
Outreach
Engages with the communities we operate in and serve to promote KFAME’s youth initiatives and foster a welcoming environment for those who do not know Christ to learn more, get involved, serve, and ultimately dedicate their lives to Christ.
- Establishes outreach ministries to reach youth and parents to guide those who know Christ to greater involvement and to bring those who do not know Christ to Him.
- Organizes events and service projects to increase youth involvement and engagement within the community to spread the gospel.
- Visits and volunteers at local area schools to build relationships with students, staff, and administrators to assess and determine how they may benefit from KYM.
Communication
Effectively communicates with all constituents and stakeholders who lead, participate in, or need to be made aware of projects and initiatives that advance KYM goals and objectives.
- Regularly communicates with leadership, colleagues, and volunteers to ensure alignment with goals and priorities to receive proper support.
- Prepares regular reports on KYM activities which provide insight into reach and impact for continuous growth and improvement of programs and initiatives.
- Develops a communication cadence with members of KYM and parents to ensure awareness of events, activities, and opportunities for youth growth and development.
- Creates and ensures the execution of marketing campaigns for KYM and associated events.
- Establishes and/or participates in meetings through attendance and/or presentation of ideas, strategies, outcomes, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in religion, theology, education, or associated education or coursework, and 3 – 5 years’ experience working in youth ministry. Master of Divinity preferred.
- Demonstrated ability designing and managing projects, programs, and initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments or projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Demonstrated ability influencing without formal authority.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally performed in an office environment while outreach efforts will require flexibility in where, when, and how engagement occurs. Collaboration and partnerships with other ministers and ministries outside of KYM is required to support the KFAME mission and serving its members and constituents.
