Job DescriptionJob Description

The Tool and Die Maker will diagnose and repair complex progressive dies.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Uses tools to build and repair dies as required.
  • Repairs dies and tools when needed; disassembles progressive dies then reassembles when repaired.
  • Reads and understands blueprints and complicated schematics as required to repair and build dies
  • Uses computer-aided design (CAD) software to review models and drawings.
  • Inspects completed tools and dies for signs of imperfection or damage that may affect functionality.
  • Regularly tests all equipment, tools, and machines to ensure they are arranged and set properly and working efficiently.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Prefer experience in smaller progressive dies for electronic parts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to safely and accurately operate all production equipment including mills and surface grinders.
  • Working understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.
  • Ability to diagnose progressive die issues
  • Working understanding of metallic properties.
  • Ability to work independently, and with engineers and machinists.
  • Basic experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of an apprentice program with a licensed professional or established company is preferred.
  • Tool and diemaker certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience repairing progressive dies

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting and working at bench.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
