Project Accountant

The Project Accountant reports to the CFO and is responsible for analyzing and monitoring a portfolio of jobs. The project accountant serves as a bridge between construction and the functional accounting team.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
· Transition projects from preconstruction to operations at contract award
· Document risk mitigation plan for subcontractors
· Review and approve integrations between ERP and Project Management systems
· Review budgets proactively to identify errors, budget overruns or opportunity for cost savings
· Set up and control project related credit card expenses
· Record and monitor allocated costs against appropriate cost codes
· Charge McCrory vehicles, equipment and overhead against jobs as appropriate
· Assess and compare budgets and project financials across the portfolio to identify opportunities for efficiency
· Assess job cost completeness monthly and resolve missing job charges with Accounts Payable and the Project Manager
· Review billings with the Project Manager before submission to owner and accounting
· Establish and track KPIs around profitability, project gain/fade, contingency usage and project schedule
· Develop warranty tracking
· Provide financial input to close out meetings
Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
· Minimum 5 years in a related role
· Ability to collaborate effectively across project and functional teams
· Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities
· Knowledge of construction industry or familiarity with cost accounting
· Solid analytical skills
· Experience in financial reporting
