Below are some of the responsibilities the Manual Tester may be expected to assume in their position:

  • Review and analyze system specifications
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Test Engineers and Test Planners/Managers to develop effective strategies and test plans
  • Write manual test scripts in order to test requirements and perform system regression testing.
  • Execute test manual cases and analyze results.
  • Evaluate product code according to specifications
  • Create logs to document testing phases and defects
  • Report bugs and errors to development teams
  • Help troubleshoot issues
  • Conduct post-release/ post-implementation testing
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Oversee all test events and manage multiple test events, defining and staffing these test events with appropriate resources.
  • They will configure necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing and manage the defect database.
  • Fixes defects
  • Must attempt to understand the customer, to “be in their” shoes, in order value the importance of the product being delivered
  • Must take care of and encourage other team members
  • Must deliver software that meets or exceeds customer expectations, verified during sprint reviews

The Must-Haves: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.

  • Must currently reside in the US.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other Information Technology major (Or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum of 2 years of Manual Testing experience
  • 2+ years’ experience as a Manual Tester
  • Experience writing test scripts based on acceptance criteria
  • Experience testing APIs/web services integration between applications
  • Experience running test scripts and documenting results, including documenting defects
  • Experience participating in daily scrum meetings with users and developers to report and suggest resolution to issues discovered during testing
  • Experience in a technical business systems analyst position with a proven track record to work under pressure and deliver
  • Experience operating within an Agile development methodology

Preferred Skills/Experience: The experience listed below are preferred for this job

  • Experience using JIRA and Azure Dev Ops
  • Experience using Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with IBM Rational Functional Tester and IBM Performance Tester

GeekSI now covers 100 percent employer contribution toward health insurance premiums for employees and 50 percent for dependents.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000 per year
