Position Summary:
The Line Cook at Cedar River Bistro is responsible for preparing high-quality casual cuisine in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role emphasizes speed, teamwork, and precision to ensure prompt and accurate service during busy periods. The Line Cook collaborates closely with the entire team to maintain smooth kitchen operations and deliver an excellent guest experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Food Preparation & Execution:

    • Prepare and cook menu items quickly and accurately according to Cedar River Bistro’s standards and recipes.
    • Maintain a sense of urgency during service, ensuring all orders are completed promptly without compromising quality.
    • Assist in prepping ingredients, including chopping, slicing, portioning, and organizing stations for service.
  2. Efficiency & Collaboration:

    • Communicate and work seamlessly with team members to manage high volumes of orders during peak hours.
    • Coordinate with other cooks and servers to prioritize orders and ensure timely delivery of meals.
    • Support teammates by assisting on other stations or tasks as needed.
  3. Consistency & Presentation:

    • Ensure all dishes are prepared consistently and meet presentation and portioning standards.
    • Monitor food quality, freshness, and preparation to uphold Cedar River Bistro’s commitment to excellence.
  4. Cleanliness & Safety:

    • Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.
    • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
    • Assist in daily cleaning tasks, including equipment, utensils, and kitchen areas.
  5. Teamwork & Adaptability:

    • Be flexible and willing to adapt to changing demands or menu adjustments.
    • Contribute positively to the team dynamic, fostering a supportive and collaborative kitchen environment.
    • Take on additional duties as directed by the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager to ensure smooth operations.

Guest Service Expectations:

  • Indirectly enhance the guest experience by preparing food quickly, accurately, and with attention to detail.
  • Support the front-of-house team by maintaining clear communication to meet guest needs and expectations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks such as chopping, stirring, or plating.
  • Stand, move, and bend for the duration of shifts in a hot kitchen environment.
