Manual Machinist

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual machining equipment, with a focus on a Manual Lathe, and Mill. The candidate must have strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision to produce high quality components.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Setup and Operation:

-          Obtain necessary tools, gauges, and fixtures to set up and adjust for operations on a Manual Lathe, and a Mill with minimal supervision.

-          Adjust and align holding fixtures, secure valves in holding devices, and select appropriate speeds and feeds based on material characteristics and finish requirements.

Material Handling and Machining:

-          Load parts into jigs, fixtures, or between centers, and load materials into machine feed systems or holding devices.

-          Perform machining operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, milling, reaming, and similar tasks to achieve close tolerances.

Tool Maintenance and Quality Control:

-          Inspect tools for damage, evaluate and report necessary repairs, replace broken and dull tools, and make necessary adjustments.

-          Periodically inspect machined parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.

Tool Crib Management:

-          Monitor and maintain all mini and kitted tool cribs, ensuring that tools are available and in good working condition.

Safety and Reporting:

-          Notify the supervisor of any unusual equipment or operating problems.

-          Follow all safety rules and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Cross-Departmental Work:

-          Be flexible to work in other cells or departments as needed to support production demands.

Qualifications

-          Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or similar role.

-          Proficient in the use of manual machining equipment, particularly a Manual Mill and Manual Lathe.

-          Strong understanding of machining techniques and material properties.

-          Ability to work with precision and meet tight tolerances.

-          Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
