The Network Engineer 1 will work in our office in Madison, Mississippi to enable all aspects of the network, including maintenance, sustenance of existing networks, and identification/correction of complex internetwork issues, etc. to function optimally to enhance telecommunications systems. Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure smooth transmission of data by configuring networks that fulfill the objective of the organization.
  • Performs assessment aimed at resolving technical issues concerning computer, server, network, and voice promptly.
  • Maintains data and voice network hardware and systems.
  • Conducts research aimed at isolating, analyzing, and resolving errors.
  • Provides escalated Tier-2 and Tier-3 technical support on voice and data networks.
  • Responds to technical questions; recommends and implements an approved course of action.
  • Get network applications installed on network servers or voice equipment.
  • Performs data or voice network configurations and configuration changes of various voice or data equipment to enhance performance.
  • Perform other ongoing and short-term projects as outlined by management.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of fiber optic technology and network equipment and additional systems expertise, including FIM, and Microsoft Excel/Access is required.
  • Possess experience in performing installation and configuration of all levels of network devices, such as firewalls, switches, routers, ADTRAN, and Cisco devices.
  • Must possess well-developed customer-focused skills while operating in a manner that makes it easy to do business.
  • Committed to helping and supporting company End Users' connectivity issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information and concepts to team members, outside partners, and managers clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to function well in a team, as well as establish rapport, credibility, and trust with colleagues and clients.
  • Competently develop workable plans and timetables to complete projects and appropriately pre-prioritize activities in line with changing needs.
  • Analytical/decision-making skills to identify critical elements and utilize information from cause/effect relationships in situations to evaluate, draw conclusions, and find resolution.
  • Possess an adept understanding of the features and functionality of relevant technologies and be able to work swiftly around obstacles in the technical product field, usually without supportive documentation.
  • The ability to identify interrelationships between the parts of the technical situation and determine how to use technology to solve business requirements is essential.
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and proficient in English.
  • Possession and access to a laptop computer.
  • Understanding of company products, services, and policies.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a four-year college degree in a related field preferred.
  • An Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology from an accredited college and four years of relevant work experience is acceptable in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Two years of additional network engineering experience may be substituted for an Associate’s degree.
