Cook Needed:

General Statement of Duties: Responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen and all meals. Specific areas include but are not limited to cleaning, purchasing and inventory; State Health regulations and Licensing requirements for kitchens; State funded food programs; kitchen maintenance; customer service; administration of policies and procedures, and ensuring the successful operation and quality of the kitchen.

Status: Part time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Salary Range: $10 - $11

Typical Physical Demands: Standing for extended periods of time. Full range of body motion to include manual and finger dexterity; eye-hand coordination necessary to perform record management; ability to bend and lift 30-50 pounds on a routine basis; and ability to escort children into or out of the building during an emergency. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range and ability to read, write, and orally communicate in the English language.

Typical Working Conditions: Kitchen, panty, and office environments.

Job Segments:

• Responsible for all day-to-day operations of center kitchen
• Develop menus in accordance with state nutrition guidelines.
• Ensure kitchen and pantry areas are cleaned daily and trash is taken out.
• Maintain accurate records, and files timely reports with the Center Director, agencies and associations as required (i.e., equipment/food inventories; CACFP reports; GA Pre-K reports and grants; etc.)
• Secure yearly USDA Food program, as well as yearly food service contract and report accordingly
• Purchasing and Inventory controls in place: organize inventory of supplies/food and requests items as needed to ensure smooth operations within the center
• Assist with center kitchen equipment, ensuring repairs are done in a timely manner
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies in kitchen and storage areas
• Maintains a cooperative working relationship with all staff and volunteers.
• Attends childcare staff and meetings/training as required.
• Certified and current in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Fire Safety
• Successfully complete 12+ hours of DHR training annually.

Performance Requirements: Pass State of Georgia criminal history & background check; obtain 12 hours DHR approved child care training annually; certified in CPR, First Aid; ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently; proficient in supervision, effective time management skills and problem solving, with the ability to lead and be an active team player; organize and deliver complex inventory to diverse settings in a timely manner within budget guidelines; proficient at organizing, detail oriented, have follow-through-focus; and excellent communication skills.

Education/Experience: Must be at least 21 years or older with a minimum of 3 to 5 years food preparation/management experience.
