The Product Development Specialist will collaborate closely with our Design, Operations, and Sales teams to ensure we manufacture the best possible apparel product for our SMU (special make-up) line. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have the ability to problem-solve as needed and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Direct experience in the apparel industry is required, particularly in the B2B sector. This role is full-time on-site at our Tempe headquarters.

Attention to detail is key The ideal candidates will have proven experience in fashion product development including construction, fit, sketches, and tech packs.

 

WHO YOU ARE FOR THE TEAM

  • Degree in Fashion Design/Development or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience in apparel design/development

  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, especially cut & sew knits

  • Aptitude for working independently and in conjunction with teams, both domestically and internationally

  • Knowledge of the entire product life cycle process from design handoff through production handoff

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator

  • Previous PLM (product life-cycle management) experience required; Gerber Yunique preferred

  • Working knowledge of design software, CRM systems, Microsoft, and Google Suite

  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time with a sense of priority for deadlines

  • Strong follow-up skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Graphic design experience a plus

 

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

  • Responsible for the development of products from design handoff through production handoff for B2B/SMU apparel.

  • Work closely with Sales, Design, and Operations to ensure accurate and complete information for each style.

  • Develop flat sketches for new styles in Adobe Illustrator.

  • Design and spec custom trims and construction details as needed for specialized projects.

  • Provide garment construction and print placement details in tech packs.

  • Create Tech Packs in Gerber Yunique PLM system.

  • Review lab dips and strike-offs.

  • Review samples for accurate measurements, construction, fabric colors, print size/placement, branding/labeling and packaging.

  • Responsible for maintaining style information in PLM System, including sample comments, approvals, etc.

  • Review QC samples as needed.

  • Communicate with factories overseas throughout the development process.

  • Work closely with Product Development and Operations Managers on adhering to timelines.

  • Make minor to intermediate graphic design adjustments to artwork.
