We are currently seeking a candidate for:

• Position: Design Engineer, Innovation

• Location: Dayton, OH

Position Summary:

As a Design Engineer at DRT, you will report to Engineering Manager and collaborate with engineering teams to develop progressive die designs for the high-speed production of easy open ends. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously, from concept through design approval. Your projects may include new system designs, retrofit applications and new product development models.

Responsibilities:

Develop mechanical designs for the manufacturing of high-speed conversion systems and tooling including progressive die design, layout, metal forming stations, guarding, mechanical transfer, conversion presses, and automation.

• Provide assembly and detail drawings for various systems, tooling, and components to ensure the efficient assembly, operation, design intent and final approval of the customer.

• Review/check engineering work for completeness and accuracy.

• Support manufacturing and operations by creating and maintaining part models.

• Project work includes detailing of the design, completion of all assembly drawings, R&R generation, BOM creation and project handoff documentation.

• Tasks will include controlling engineering change notices due to customer part changes, manufacturing, and assembly issues.

• 2D and 3D CAD proficiency (preferably Autocad and NX)

Minimum Requirements:

Broad training in machine design usually acquired through college degree level education, engineering degree or work[1]related experience with drafting parts, assemblies, and drawings using GD&T

Preferred Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.), or minimum of five years relevant experience in high-speed progressive die design, machine design, metal forming or tool and die design.
