Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCNC Machinist Turning on 2nd shift -direct hire in Downers Grove, ILHOURS: 3:30pm-midnight (typically working until 1 or 2 am and 3 Saturdays per month)PAY: $26-32/hr (depending upon experience) plus a 10% shift diffExcellent union benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, STD, 401 K with a match)Must be authorized to work in the United StatesWhat you will do:
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, quality plans, materials, specifications, OP. drawings, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Sets up lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, and attachments.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces by supplied OP—drawing and quality plan.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; replacing worn tools; and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; and calling for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating CNC lathes and mills is required.
  • Ability to read technical mechanical drawings along with a good understanding of GD&T.
  • Setup experience
  • Experience operating DMG/Mori Seiki NT4300/1500 turn/mill preferred
  • Metric system knowledge
  • Able to adjust speed, feed, depth of cuts
