About the role

We are looking for a skilled nuclear medicine technologist to be responsible for the preparation and administration of radioactive drugs in general Nuclear Medicine and Cardiac. You will be responsible for operating imaging equipment and ensuring the safety of all medical staff and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure. Must have excellent technical and computer skills, as well as attention to detail. Good communication and interpersonal skills are a must.

Supervision Received: Reports to Manager of Diagnostics

Supervision Exercised: None.

Typical Physical Demands: Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operation of all department equipment. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing.

Typical Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, radioactive material, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Responsibilities: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)

  1. Preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals orally or by injection or inhalation.

  1. Explaining the imaging procedure to patients, answering questions, getting consents signed, and ensuring their comfort while placing them in the appropriate position for scanning.

  1. Perform Nuclear General and Cardiac studies including image acquisition, processing, and monitoring patient vital signs.


  1. Setup patients for stress tests including; connecting patient to 12 lead EKG, starting IV, taking blood pressures, injecting the radiopharmaceutical, and assisting patients on and off the treadmill and stretcher.

  1. Assisting stress providers with exercise and chemical stress tests.

  1. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality control and testing of instrumentation, radiopharmaceuticals, data, images, and computing systems.

  1. Order radiopharmaceuticals form the Nuclear Pharmacy.

  1. Keeping detailed records of the amount and type of radiopharmaceutical used and of the procedure; dispensing and disposal activities.


  1. Monitoring patients for unusual reactions to radioactive drugs.

  1. Following safety procedures to protect staff and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.

  1. Ensure Nuclear studies are read and signed by the ordering providers. Follow reporting time guidelines.

  1. Responsible for charging procedures performed.

  1. Works with Radiology Work list (RIS) and PACS system.

Location & commitments

Permanent FT/PT role based at our Greenville location, Monday-Friday, 7:30a.m. – 3:30p.m.

Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care, tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely manner. Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.

Candidate requirements: Must be a graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program with an associate’s degree. Registered or registry eligible through ARRT (Nuclear Medicine Technology) or certified through NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board). Two years of clinical experience preferred.
