Benefits and Leave Manager

The Benefits and Leave Manager is responsible for managing and administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, leave administration, workers' compensation, and open enrollment. This role ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations while promoting the benefits available to employees. The Benefits and Leave Manager serves as a key point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries and leave issues. This position will also act as the Payroll backup and will be trained accordingly.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Benefit Administration:
- Manage and administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
- Conduct regular audits of benefit programs to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Serve as the primary liaison between employees and benefit providers, addressing questions and resolving issues.
Leave Administration:
- Oversee the administration of various leave programs, including FMLA, short-term disability, and other leave policies.
- Maintain accurate records of employee leave and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Communicate leave policies to employees and provide guidance on the application process.
Workers' Compensation:
- Manage the workers' compensation process, including reporting incidents, maintaining records, and liaising with insurance providers.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations pertaining to workers' compensation.
- Facilitate return-to-work programs and coordinate with injured employees and their supervisors.
Open Enrollment:
- Manage the annual benefits renewal process in partnership with the HR Operations Director and Chief People Officer.
- Plan and coordinate the annual open enrollment process for employee benefits.
- Develop communication materials to inform employees about available benefits and enrollment procedures.
- Conduct informational sessions and workshops to educate employees about their benefits options.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, and others.
- Prepare and maintain reports related to benefits utilization, costs, and compliance.
- Stay current on industry trends and changes in legislation that may impact employee benefits.
Employee Support:
- Provide exceptional and proactive customer service to employees regarding benefits-related inquiries and issues.
- Assist with the onboarding process for new hires by explaining benefits options and enrollment procedures and conducting new hire onboarding where applicable.
- Foster a positive employee experience through effective communication and support.
- Own level one employee relations issues as it relates to leaves, benefits, workers compensation etc.
Mergers & Acquisitions
- Support the Mergers & Acquisitions workflow which will require traveling to newly acquired practices to help educate on benefits and onboard them into beBright Partnership.
- Conduct due diligence on all benefit plans during the M&A process for all acquisitions.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration or human resources, with a focus on benefits management.
- Knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certification such as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar is a plus.
- M&A experience is preferred but not required
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position typically works in an office setting with some flexibility but may require occasional travel for benefits education and onboarding new Practices.
- Travel: 15%
