Job Description: Service Manager
Reports to: VP of Forklift Operations / Branch Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Directly supervises hourly service technicians and Service Administrator and is responsible for the direction, coordination and evaluation of this Forklift service department.
- Schedule service work according to priority and maintain an orderly flow of work.
- Advises internal and external customers of required repairs and prepares quotes.
- Inspects all finished work repair orders for performance to quote, completion to Modern standards, and to make recommendations to After-Market Sales as to the customer’s preventative maintenance and/or additional repair needs.
- Perform monthly fieldwork audits.
- Manage equipment condition, inventory, inspections, and maintenance.
- Monitor lost and warranty time to standards.
- Ensure work orders are accurate and service approved as directed.
- Evaluates service technician performance, manages training and development needs.
- Work with the parts department to establish a van and branch inventory.
- Maintains adequate supplies and parts for service department inventory.
- Coordinate efforts as needed with Parts, Office, Sales and Management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly manages hourly Road Service technicians and Service Administrator, is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this service department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

A.) from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
