CNC Operator

We are looking for a CNC Operator to join our team. The CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator is responsible for the precision machining of aircraft components. This role involves operating, setting up, and maintaining CNC machines to manufacture high-tolerance parts that meet strict industry standards. The CNC Operator works closely with engineers, quality control teams, and other machinists to ensure that products adhere to specifications and safety regulations. You’ll work with a collaborative team, manage your work to meet deadlines and quality standards, and enjoy a career in the exciting aerospace industry.
Your Job Responsibilities:
Setup and Operation:
- Set up CNC machines to produce components by installing the correct tools, fixtures, and materials.
- Interpret blueprints, CAD models, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Load and secure raw materials into CNC machines and execute programs to start production cycles.
- Continuously monitor machines during operation to maintain high precision and performance.
They will be working on mills. Specifically the following machines:
- DN Solutions DNM750II
- Fadal 8030
- Fadal 6030
- Fadal 4020
- Tarus 3+2 Gantry
We also have the following but no necessarily a showstopper if they are unfamiliar:
- KUKA Robot CNC Trim Cell
- Mazak U44 Space Gear 5-axis Laser
Programming and Adjustments:
- Read and interpret G-code, M-code, or CNC program files and input them into machine control systems.
- Collaborate with aerospace engineers to resolve any issues with programming or tooling.
- Make necessary adjustments to the machine’s settings to optimize cutting.
Quality Control:
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), etc.
- Identify defects in the manufacturing process and collaborate with the quality control team for resolution.
Maintenance and Safety:
- Perform regular maintenance on CNC machines.
- Diagnose machine malfunctions or process inefficiencies that could compromise part integrity.
- Ensure machines operate safely, following company policies with proper guarding and safety protocols.
Reporting:
- Maintain production logs, documenting quantities, materials, machine settings, and any issues.
- Complete all required documentation for traceability following AS9100 and Nadcap.
- Communicate with the team regarding progress, machine performance, and process improvements.
Skills you’ll use:
Education: High school diploma or GED. A technical certification in CNC machining is ideal.
Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience operating CNC machines in the aerospace or defense industry.
- Familiarity with aerospace-grade materials, including titanium, Inconel, and high-performance alloys.
- Knowledge of AS9100 and Nadcap quality standards.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints, CAD drawings, and schematics.
- Proficient in using precision measuring tools and height gauges to verify part quality.
- Expertise in CNC programming, including G-code, & M-code, and experience with CNC control systems.
Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve mechanical and technical issues.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on accuracy and precision, with a strong commitment to meeting tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, handle high-strength materials, and operate machinery in a manufacturing environment.
Communication: Effective communication skills for reporting production issues, collaborating with engineers, and ensuring quality control protocols are followed.
