Qualifications: 1. High school diploma required.
2. Ability to understand and organize food preparation activities required.
3. Knowledge of food preparation and production process; knowledge of food protection principles; ability to follow and prepare modified diets.
4. Ability to carry out cooking tasks at a safe and efficient level of performance required.
5. Pride in quality of food and service necessary.
6. High degree of personal cleanliness and good hygiene necessary; health status suitable for work in food services required.
7. Ability to follow verbal and written instruction and to communicate with residents required.
Works in kitchen area. Subject to standing, walking, bending and lifting heavy objects throughout workday; heat or burns from work activities; handling of sharp objects and equipment with sharp edges.
Job Summary: Kitchen staff member who is involved in direct preparation of foodstuffs for service to residents, staff and visitors; responsible for functions related to recipe use, amounts to prepare and quality control.
Job Duties:
- Review menus and production sheets to determine food quantities needed for regular and other special diets.
- Prepare specified food items, as assigned.
- Test cooked foods by tasting and smelling samples.
- Ensure that sanitation and safety standards are met in the preparation, cooking and production line stages of food production.
- Assist in maintaining meal census logs, serving temperatures, serving times and other quality procedures.
- Assist in care and maintenance of kitchen equipment; notify supervisor of equipment in need of repair.
- Supervise food being cooked; ensure that food is held and served at correct temperature.
- Assist with preparation of and distribution of foods.
- Prepare cold foods and desserts for service prior to meals.
- Assemble food and drinks for snacks and delivers to designated area.
- Perform cleaning duties in kitchen and/or serving areas as scheduled and directed; assist with procedure of clearing food away.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of specified equipment and the general kitchen work area.
Shift: 11:00 Am - 7:00 PM - Weekends and Holidays a Must
