TradeCorp is currently hiring for Sheet Metal Mechanics in Huntsville, AL

Position Overview:
A Commercial Sheet Metal Mechanic specializes in fabricating, installing, and repairing sheet metal systems used in commercial construction, with a focus on HVAC ductwork. This role involves working with blueprints, cutting and assembling materials, and ensuring the installation meets project specifications and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal for HVAC duct systems, vents, and other commercial construction components.
• Install ductwork, fittings, and supports in commercial buildings, ensuring precision and compliance with project requirements.

Blueprint Reading:

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the layout and installation requirements for HVAC and other sheet metal systems.
• Mark materials to indicate cuts, bends, and assembly points based on project specifications.

Welding and Fastening:

• Secure sheet metal components using methods such as welding, riveting, bolting, or soldering.
• Ensure all joints are sealed properly to maintain system integrity and energy efficiency.

Inspection and Quality Control:

• Inspect installed ductwork and other sheet metal components to ensure proper alignment, airtight seals, and compliance with building codes.
• Perform repairs or modifications on existing HVAC systems as needed.

Safety and Compliance:

• Follow OSHA and other safety regulations to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all tools and equipment are in proper working condition.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school training in sheet metal or HVAC preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in commercial sheet metal work, particularly with HVAC duct systems.
• Proficiency with tools such as shears, brakes, grinders, and hand tools.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and project plans.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to handle heavy materials and work in various environments.

Preferred Skills:

• Certification in welding or HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with SMACNA (Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association) standards.
• Experience with advanced metals like stainless steel and aluminum.

This position is ideal for skilled professionals with a background in commercial construction, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety in HVAC duct installation and other sheet metal work.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
