We are seeking a Regional Controller based in Petersburg, Virginia. This role is primarily focused on managing a variety of accounting functions, providing direction to different functional areas, managing financial internal control processes, and ensuring compliance with policies and statutory requirements. This role offers an exciting opportunity in the industry with a focus on managing the accounting aspects of capital expenditures, transfers, and retirements.


Responsibilities:


• Oversee and manage accounting personnel, providing direction to different accounting functional areas such as invoice processing, billing, cash receipts, work order processing, credit analysis, receivable collections, month-end close, journal entries, statistical data, and payroll.

• Maintain financial internal control processes across all business unit functional areas such as sales, customer service, operations, HR, payroll, etc., to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including Sarbanes Oxley and other statutory requirements.

• Ensure all internal and external reporting deadlines are met and manage reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.

• Review financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and company policies and procedures.

• Interview, hire, train and develop accounting staff at the business unit.

• Offer analytical support to sales and marketing for customer pricing and profitability analysis, commercial and municipal bids, and market development projects.

• Provide the General Manager with financial analytics to support sound and profitable business decisions.

• Manage credit and collection function in an effort to maximize division cash-flow, ensuring division compliance with company credit and stop service policies.

• Manage the accounting aspects of capital expenditures, transfers, and retirements, reviewing and approving all related asset management sub-ledger transactions.

• Support the General Manager during the annual budget and interim forecasting process, managing workflow, timeliness, and analytical review of all budget and forecast data.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting and/or equivalent training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related accounting or financial experience including a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with Accounting Software Systems
  • Experience with ADP - Financial Services
  • Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions
  • Familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Experience in crafting Annual Budgets
  • Knowledge of Auditing best practices
  • Familiarity with Budget Processes
