Bridging munication: Sign Language Interpreter (Multiple Positions) - Soliant Education (Bonsack, VA Area)
Are you a passionate and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter seeking a rewarding opportunity to empower deaf and hard of hearing students by providing exceptional munication access in a supportive school environment?
Soliant Education is seeking qualified Sign Language Interpreters to join our team in the friendly Bonsack, VA area These full-time, in-person positions for the 2024-2025 school year offer a unique chance to make a significant difference in the lives of students by facilitating clear and effective munication across three individual caseloads.
What You'll Do:
- Provide high-quality sign language interpretation for three individual students:
- Two students in a high school setting.
- One student in an elementary school setting.
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for individual instruction, classroom activities, group discussions, and social interactions.
- Maintain neutrality and professionalism while ensuring accurate and plete munication for all parties involved.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to develop effective munication strategies that support the academic and social success of each student.
- Adapt interpreting styles and approaches to meet the specific needs and munication preferences of each student across different age groups.
- Stay up-to-date on current best practices in educational interpreting and maintain relevant certifications.

Qualifications:
- National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification or equivalent.
- Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, deafness and interpreting ethics.
- Expertise in both receptive and expressive ASL, with the ability to adapt interpreting styles for different age groups and learning environments.
- Excellent munication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other school staff.
- Proficiency in time management and organization to effectively manage multiple caseloads.
- A passion for promoting inclusion and advocating for deaf and hard of hearing students.
