Job Description

We are looking for a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. You will be responsible for operating CNC machines, planning machining processes, interpreting blueprints and specifications, and ensuring high-quality production standards. Proficiency in G-code and/or conversational programming is required.

Responsibilities
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations, and machining parameters.
  • Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Calculate machining requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Set up mills by installing and adjusting three to four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
  • Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations.
  • Take measurements, detect malfunctions, troubleshoot processes, adjust and reprogram controls, and sharpen or replace worn tools.
  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
Essential Skills
  • Proficient in CNC operation and setups.
  • Strong understanding of blueprints and GD&T.
  • Experience with inspection, machining, and using tools such as micrometers.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions, work orders, setup sheets, packaging instructions, and drawings.
  • Proficient in CNC programming and tooling knowledge.
  • Ability to use and interpret dimensional measuring tools or equipment.
  • Understanding of standard G & M codes used in programs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to identify and implement improvements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a CNC Machinist or CNC Machine Operator, or successful completion of an Associate’s Degree in machining.
  • High School Diploma or GED required upon permanent employment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.
  • Additional schooling is a plus.

Work Environment

You will be working in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, loud noise levels, airborne particles, and seasonally hot temperatures. This position is for the 2nd shift, from 3:00 pm to 1:00 am, Monday through Thursday, with Friday work being voluntary overtime.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00
