Job Overview:

As a Compliance Specialist, your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, with a strong focus on researching and interpreting regulations and ensuring organizational compliance. This role requires participation in project meetings and monitoring of regulatory changes. You will be working independently, with some cross-training within other departments. A self-starter with strong communication skills and attention to detail will thrive in this role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay up to date with credit union-related regulations, vendor due diligence, and regulatory updates.
  • Participate in project work related to compliance. 
  • Ensure all branches comply with the necessary state and federal laws and operating procedures.
  • Conduct research on proposed rules and regulation changes, following up as needed.
  • Communicate with all levels of the organization, including executives, team members, and regulatory agencies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A background legal research would make a great fit within this team. 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex legal terms into understandable language for different teams.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks without constant direction.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including OneNote and Excel for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Interest and ability to read and understand federal and state regulations, legal terms, and compliance requirements.

Preferred Background:

  • Experience in law, compliance, paralegal work, or a legal-related field.
  • Research-oriented mindset with an ability to work independently on long-term projects.
