Job Description

We are seeking an entry-level Research Associate to become an integral part of our gene therapy drug development efforts. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of chromogenic and fluorescence RNAscope and/or BaseScope staining, and familiarity with imaging chromogenic slides as well as fluorescence multiplex slides. This position requires adaptability and an ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. You will play an integral role in characterizing the expression of transgenic constructs in mouse and human tissues, performing staining and imaging for detection of transgene and cell marker expression.

Responsibilities
  • Perform chromogenic and fluorescence RNAscope/BaseScope staining.
  • Image chromogenic slides and fluorescence multiplex slides.
  • Work with multiple tissue preparations (FFPE, fixed-frozen, fresh-frozen, etc.) and multiple tissue types (mouse and human).
  • Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC, antibody staining), ddPCR, qPCR, Olink-based proteomics, MSD, protein isolation, and Western blot.
  • Maintain strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • Characterize the expression of transgenic constructs in mouse and human tissues.
  • Perform staining and imaging for detection of transgene and cell marker expression.
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule including working on weekends.
Essential Skills
  • Knowledge of immunohistochemistry, RNAscope and BaseScope assays.
  • Familiarity with microscopy and imaging.
  • Experience with multiple tissue preparations and types.
  • Strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • Critical thinking and ability to learn new techniques.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences (e.g. Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience or related field).
  • 0-2 years of relevant postgraduate research experience in an industry setting.
  • Creativity and ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
