Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for meeting production schedules in a fast-paced, high throughput industrial setting. You will be involved in the production of coated plates, chemical buffers, biological diluents/reagents, and assembled kits for customer order fulfillment. This position allows for a degree of professional latitude, creativity, and self-management.

Responsibilities
  • Operate automated equipment used to perform and produce biological assays and/or reagents.
  • Contribute to process improvement, assay, and process development for manufacturing.
  • Complete appropriate documentation to support process and production procedures including data capture, forms, logbooks, and inventory batch records.
  • Perform daily maintenance and documentation of all production equipment.
  • Participate in general laboratory maintenance including maintaining laboratory cleanliness, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain physical inventory by processing/aliquotting/vialing/labeling materials.
  • Prepare, maintain, and report raw material, reagent, and/or coated plate inventories.
  • Participate in year-end physical inventory.
  • Follow laboratory safety precautions and use personal protective equipment.
  • Manufacture custom and/or prototype requests for customers as needed.
  • Occasionally handle BSL2 reagents.
  • Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in production and manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with pipetting techniques.
  • Knowledge of biological assays and reagents.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to operate and maintain automated equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations coordination and inventory control.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Associates or BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering or related field preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior manufacturing experience is a plus.
Work Environment

This position is based in a lab-based manufacturing environment. The work schedule includes two shifts, with opening shifts starting at 5am and 7am, and a closing shift starting at 8am. Lunch breaks are scheduled at 10am, 11am, and 12pm. The 5am shifts are for those fully trained on startup and are scheduled for the entire week unless otherwise requested. Other team members will have a mix of three 7am shifts and two 8am shifts for the week. Schedules are uploaded on Wednesday for the following week, accommodating advance requests and time off. Initial schedules will be determined on the first day in the production area, typically starting at 7am or 8am until hands-on training begins.
